December 4, 2009 - Engagements
So, now that we're officially caught up on editing, we took some time off this afternoon to go cut down our Christmas tree! It was pretty spectacular walking around in the muck with the boy picking out the very best tree, fighting over how to attach it to our car, praying it didn't fly off on the thruway and hit any other cars on the road and getting up into the house, decorated and perfect. We're writing this blog post in the dim glow of tacky Christmas lights, and we couldn't be happier!
We headed over to Rochester to meet up with Christine and Erik for their eshoot a couple days ago, and it was gorgeous! The minute we started walking around the park, I about fell over myself to get to this awesome, amazing, perfect tree! Definitely starting off with my favorite shot of the day!
We had a completely rad time at Highland Park - nothing is better than finding a new, fun place to shoot - well, almost nothing is better. If you get to do that AND you get to see guys wearing tunics, waving swords around and throwing bean bags at each other yelling' "Fireball! Fireball! Fireball!" That, right there, is pure win. Blame Alyssa for the lack of LARPing photos - she nixed them :(
Absolutely no LARPing photos. I let you put bum shoes on the last post, didn't I? So, Christine and Erik live in Buffalo, but Christine is from Rochester, and her favorite thing ever is the lilac festival, which is held in Highland Park and why we visited there. I'd never heard of it until she told us about it, but I can only imagine how amazing that smells. What an awesome festival!
Fair enough :( I'll just have to post them to facebook. Hey, that shot above - I love it.
Thanks! This is totally fun, babe!
We saw this field, and I clapped a bit. Seriously, I can't help my dorkiness, but this setting is the photo I want of us, so every time I see something that looks like this, I drag people to it. But it's just so pretty!
Just FYI, your cat is vomiting tinsel. This happens every year. She'll poop tinsel for the next month. I don't like your cat.
Yeah, it's kind of ridiculous that the trees been up 20 minutes, and she's already eaten some. I don't know what about stringy metal seems appetizing, but then again, my dog ate the Tinactin the other day, so I suppose they don't have the world's best palates.
So pretty - Christine killed it!
Not only did your dog eat the bottle of tinactin, after I moved it she went back for more. This field was totally rad. Fireballfireballfireballfireball!
Photos at the side of the public restroom? Check!
So, Erik was making fun of Christine's vertical leap, so I was like, hey you guys should jump for this photo! And then Erik jumped and Christine didn't move, so I went with this one for the blog instead :) Seriously, Christine. I never thought I'd meet someone with a worse vertical jump than I (ask Rich about the time I swore I could touch the ceiling!), but you win!
You should bring that up more often!! I'd totally forgotten about that day you had me rolling in our kitchen while you leaped for the ceiling over and over again :)
You guys look really good with tractors :) RAD shoot, good times - we can't wait to do it again on your wedding day next year - and we're super psyched we got to know you guys a little better. Thank you so much for the good times and the laughter, even if Alyssa got a speeding ticket getting us there :)

You know, this is my favorite photo I've taken in a long time.It was definitely how I wanted to start off with Ashley and Joe, a couple we really love and are unbelievably happy found us and chose us to shoot them. Second post in an hour, ftw.
Yeah, that came out pretty awesome!
This is MY favorite of yours, Rich. You should swipe my TS more often.
Thanks :) By the way, yes, we photographed all of this in Forest Lawn Cemetary. I know it probably sounds a little creepy to do that, but FL may be the most beautiful place in all of Buffalo. We go up there (it's just up the street from our place) to ride bikes when we can during the summer.
We had initially planned on shooting the two of them much earlier in the summer, but the weather being what it was this year, we got rained out. But it was kind of perfect when we shot, so I'm glad it did.
So, I'm a really, really nice wife. You do know why I'm saying that, huh babe?
I cannot believe you didn't post the shot of me being lifted onto that monument by Joe. Like, the photo must be REAL bad if it didn't make it in :) Joe is kindof a bad-ass - a professional wrestler - but is one of the nicest dudes I've met in a long, long time.
Hey! Don't forget to give props to Ashley! She just started as a manager!
I love this little bridge!
I know, right? Big props to a couple who is up for standing on these moss-covered rocks.
You are! We were clearly having too much fun doing our jobs on this shoot.
I have no idea what these trees are with the berries right now, but they are killing me. I'm seriously smitten with them. They make for super pretty photos, I think.
Totally agreed - helps to have a super awesome couple to put in them, too,
We also headed down to the site of the first date for a couple shots!
Guys! Thank you so much - you guys were a ton of fun, and we'll see you soon!
