October 14, 2009 - Engagements
julia + shawn
When Julia and Shawn were teenagers, they saw each other across the hot dog stand, and nine years later, they are about to get married. So, they thought it would be fun to revisit some places from their early relationship for their eshoot down in Angola. So, clearly, we started at...
I love it. Let me get a little cheese-ball corny for a minute, but we "fall" for our couples. For real. All the stories and the emotions and talking to clients about how they live their lives now and how they want to live their lives together after the wedding - it's all pretty awesome, if I do say so myself. Huge benny to doing what we do - besides, I remember you once telling me how you always liked me better at a wedding, because it reminds you of how we met and fell in love (I'm not fishing AT ALL, babe :))
You're totally fishing, and I just threw up a little in my mouth. Cheetos do NOT taste better the second time around. ANYWAY... Julia and Shawn were adorable together. Almost everyone starts out our shoots by telling us they're nervous, and I totally get it. It's strange getting your photo taken when it isn't your friend being like, "cheese!" But I think they absolutely rocked it. We headed over to Bennett Beach to play around a little more, and after we crossed this bridge we heard...
A choir of angels singing. Seriously! I don't know why this crumbly random structure is on the beach, but I was so excited, I definitely jumped and clapped!
Yeah - I couldn't believe it, either, crumbling structure on a beach?!? Can we shoot here every day??
Above and below are my favorites... love 'em!
Well, it's pretty key to have a kick-ass couple to put next to said structure...
I love this one like crazy, Alyssa...
Thanks - yeah, Julia and Shawn are pretty special. They're super big animal people (as are we), and about half-way through, they mentioned they had some kittens in the car that they were trying to rehome (don't worry, it was not hot! I don't know why I just wrote that... I mean, this is Buffalo, clearly everyone reading this paragraph knows that it was a high of 50. Grrr, crappy weather). So, as we were finishing up the shoot and packing our gear, Julia came running over with one of the little guys, and I KNOW I clapped, jumped and squealed, because they were so ridiculously sweet. Anyway, I'm ranting - I just think people who take the time to help out animals are super awesome, and I adore that about Julia and Shawn.
And then I found some tall grass. I love tall grass :)
I don't have the same passion for tall grass you do, but if I had a weird, visual passion like that - it might well involve piles of driftwood on the beach...
I got really happy about this one...almost as happy as we got when Julia and Shawn let us run around like morons in the dark...you'll see...
One exposure, two idiots running around with flashes like, well, idiots and, two really, really super-indulgent clients.
Yeah, it got dark pretty quickly, so Julia and Shawn humored us and let us play with some long exposures. Thank you guys - we really had a great time, and cannot wait until the wedding. It's going to be epic!!
