April 30, 2010 - Engagements
lara + bucky
It's dangerously close to impossible to meet Lara + Bucky and not immediately adore them. They are both hysterical, and we were having such a great time wandering around with them, we barely realized the sun went down on us, but I'm totally cool with that, because we got to rock this which I love so much, I want to draw hearts around it!
So true - I first "ran into" Lara bouncing around Twitter when she was asking if anyone knew where you could find a pink limousine in Buffalo. I think I probably said something along the lines of, "No, for real, we're going to have to shoot your wedding - no arguments."
As far as this engagement shoot - I was nervous (I'm always nervous, it's a good thing). I knew from meeting L + B that their wedding was going to be a big damned deal and really interesting and unique (pink flamingos in a garden kind of unique) and we also knew Lara was a pretty damned talented artist. I want to get it "right" for all of our clients and I knew these two would be a lot of fun to try and nail their personalities.
Bucky said this was about right for the relationship :) Seriously, I've never laughed out loud going back through my photos, but you two cracked me up as I was going through these!
I think part of what made us laugh so damned much was that our relationships have a lot of similar aspects :).
Definitely! So, this is the first time I've ever had anyone bust out robot boxing as an e-shoot pose, and I adore it!
One of my many favs from the day...
That's probably one of my favorite photos we've ever taken. Also, just as a PSA - stay away from buildings that have giant "Danger - Asbestos" signs all over them. For real.
Blah blah blah, whine whine whine. Seriously, I didn't make them even stand near it. They are clearly out in the street and not picking up some mesothelioma. I have no idea how to spell that.
Eh - too lazy to Google - such is our life :)
Come on... seriously, remember what I said about adoring these two??
Lara decided to give Bucky a hand getting up. Clearly, the best way to do that is to just pull like hell on your significant other!
Bucky is kind of a mountain of a dude. A really, really smart guy who bounces on the side when he's not busy being super smart. I wouldn't fuck with Bucky with a RPG-7 and a shaped charge (weapon nerdery - activated - just for you, B, - anyone else watch that Deadliest Warrior show? It's ridiculous, but really kindof entertaining).
I'm not sure, some days, why I let you write things on our website. Also, fish-face.
So, apparently one of the big reasons Lara fell in love with Bucky is because he is one hell of a chair. They were saying he carries her around fairly frequently like this,,,
until this happens...
I adore everything about these two, this moment and this photo.
Awesome - remember Lara talking about them walking through New York with other women pissed at their boyfriends for not carrying THEM? You also got to tell, yet again, the story of me dropping you during a photo shoot. Always a classic.
Well then don't drop me!!!!!!!
Nickel City Studios - putting couples in front of quasi-interesting geometric things around Buffalo since 2006:
And so we come to the end of another post - I'm finishing up with this shot which might have been kinda lame with anyone else, but I love this traditional portrait of the two of you. Guys - thank you so ridiculously much for keeping us laughing. You guys are awesome, and the wedding is going to be off the hook!
